OCR: Factory's first offering was "A Factory Sample," a double 7-inch with one band on each side. The four bands were Joy Division, Cabaret Voltaire, Durutti Column, and John Dowie. Joy Division's contributions were the songs "Digital" and "Glass." The first and only pressing of "A Factory Sample" was limited to 5000 copies, which sold out immediately. Joy Division's perseverance on the club circuit soon attracted the attention of John Peel, a Radio One disc jockey. Peel's radio program broadcasts songs which are recorded especially for his show by mostly unknown bands. Joy Division's first Peel session was recorded in January 1979.
